For nearly 4 years, Xenia Rudycka and Camille Anderson have been writing and performing music together. They were quick to win hearts in the San Francisco Bay Area alt.country scene for their biting humor and tight harmonies. Xenia writes sexy, soulful songs, and sings from her heart. Her unique singing style was partially learned from a cassette tape titled, "You Too Can Yodel!" Otherwise, she spent her growing up years learning guitar from her father and playing politically-charged folk music like any good Berkeley hippy's daughter. Camille's contribution is in her humorous approach toward life. The daughter of two music teachers, she grew up in Kansas City singing 4-part harmony whenever her family went anywhere in the car. Harmonies come effortlessly for her, and she concentrates her writing efforts toward making fun of whatever she can get her hands on (usually at her own expense). Xenia and Camille found each other quickly after Camille moved to Oakland, CA. They noticed right off the bat that their voices, though very different, complimented each other quite nicely. They also have a certain antagonistic chemistry- both on stage and off- that makes any show a bit more interesting. Last year, they added a new member- Mark Bailey. He is another Kansas City transplant whose musical background was most likely years and years of hiding in his room learning every classic rock guitar solo known to man. He has been in several bands and a wide variety of genres. The Pickin' Trix is his first venture into "country" music. His addition has brought in several new instruments and has helped direct the band into a fuller sound. The Pickin' Trix completed recording and producing their first CD- "Back to Front" in May of 2006, just in time to haul them along on several mini-tours with their friends- The Meat Purveyors (of Austin, TX). Today, they are busy writing new songs and are very much looking forward to getting back in the studio! |
